3rd ADI Convocation Report (India Chapter) - Overall Health through Oral Health

Academy of Dentistry International, India Chapter conducted its 3rd Global Conclave at Saveetha Dental College in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, from December 10 to 12, 2019.

The inaugural function commenced with seeking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati by Saraswati Vandana. As we are celebrating 100 years of Dentistry in India, Dr. R. Ahmed Centennial Celebration tribute was paid by the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. O. Paneerselvam. The dais was shared by The Honorable Health Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. C. Vijayabaskar, Guest of Honour, Dr. Dibyendu Mazumder, Patron of Academy of Dentistry International, Dr. Bharath Shetty, Acting President, Dental Council of India, Dr. Gerhard Seeberger, President, Academy of Dentistry International, Chancellor of Saveetha University, Dr. N. M. Veeraiyan, Dr. B. Rajkumar, President, Academy of Dentistry International, India Chapter, Dr. Deepak Nallaswamy, Director of Academics, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, and Dr. Sheeja Varghese, Dean, Saveetha Dental College.

The other guests of honor who were felicitated by the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister were 34 members of the Dental Council of India, Dr. Friedrich Herbst, Honorary ADI member, Dr. Ilshat Yuldashev, ADI Regent, Eastern Europe, Dr. Sundar Andiyapilai, President of Sri Lanka Dental Association, Dr. Pravindra Adhikari, President, Nepal Dental Association, Dr. Alan Mighell, Dean, Leeds University (UK), Dr. Zeinou Sirdage, Member, France Dental Association, Dr. Akanksha Bhatt, Dr. Vikrant Jain, Dr. Sameer Makkar and other ADI Members from different countries, and all the principals, vice principals, and faculty members of dental colleges in Chennai.

Almost 1500 students participated in the global conclave and presented papers and posters and also attended the lectures by the faculties.

On the evening of December 10, 2019, the convocation function was arranged at Hotel Feathers in Chennai at 7:00 p.m., in which 47 new fellow members were felicitated by Dr. Dibyendu Mazumder, Patron, Academy of Dentistry International, Dr. Gerhard Seeberger, President, Academy of Dentistry International, and Dr. B. Rajkumar, President, Academy of Dentistry International, India Chapter.

It was a 3-day mega event that was very well organized and well conducted and provided lots of knowledge, education, and new prospects to the dental society.

As the conference proceeded toward its completion on December 12, 2019, a mega free dental camp was arranged by Dr. H. Thamizhchelvan at various places such as TIEMA Industrial Estate and Mukkala Nammalwar Chetty Vivekananda Vidyalaya in Chennai. Dental awareness and education regarding teeth and oral health were provided to students, teachers, and staff at these camps. We also distributed free dental kits.

Almost 7400 people benefited from the free dental camps and expressed their gratitude to the organizers.
